The Borgo Pass: A Community for Dracula Fans

Hello, all.

I've returned from my vacation in Romania (specifically, Transylvania), so things can pick up on the Borgo Pass once more. I had intended to post some pictures of the country (particularly those of Vlad Tepes' birthplace and statue) but a family member currently has the photo album in their office so no such luck today.

I'd also like to announce that, inspired by member kit_maxel's brilliance, I am considering running a livejournal Dracula RPG. Of course, I would need enough people interested in order to do so. I don't have a cut-and-dry plan of how it will manifest in terms of plot exactly, but if you or your friends are keen on the idea and would like to brainstorm the possibilities, I'd be very pleased.

Noapte buna,
urbanhermitgirl.

Ummm... I might be interested in that. I would likely have to reread the book again however.

I have experience in lj rpgs. :)

Great stuff, melsmarsh! I've been involved with several online horror RPGs as well, but no lj ones so far.

If you'd like to skim through the novel again, there's a link for the online text at the top of the page. But it won't be necessary for you to religiously memorize every minute detail, I believe.

Later on, I'll provide the community with a brief summary of the major characters (assuming we're going to use the book's timeline) and the canon vampire lore to help out the rustier PCs.

Great! Luckily, I do remember all the major characters and all the vampire lore. Can't be a vampire fan without that knowledge!

I will try to do skim the novel this weekend after I get all my homework done. Silly homework always getting in the way of fun stuff!

So many good characters, so hard to choose who to play. ;-)

Hey, you may get to play more than one, depending on how things go and how many people join. Dracula will most likely be mod-run, but anyone else is up for grabs (with the possibility of well-written original characters if there is a suitable allowance for them).

Don't worry, I wouldn't want to play Dracula. I've already played him. Plus I think one of my Dracula: the Series muses would get *quite* upset if there were another Dracula running around in my head! There can be only one!

I might have to claim either Mina or Renfield. :-)

Well, that's good! If Stoker!Drac started channeling Lucard!Drac, it might be just a little too odd for the players to handle.

"I must have your blood Sofie...er...Mrs. Harker!"

I'm not surprised you would want to play Mina, she's a wonderfully strong and multi-faceted character. I think we may already have a Renfield lined up for us, though...[/mysterious trailing off voice]

That is okay. I don't think my Lucard would really appreciate having to keep an eye out for both Klaus AND Renfield! Too many nutcases for him to handle. :) Haha. And the laughter from the both of them would echo in my head all day.

It will be nice to portray a strong character who is well-developed in canon. Mina really is one of the better developed characters of the story.

My Sophie in the lj DtS RPG ended up being an annoying pest and no one liked the backstory I gave her as she didn't have one in canon. *rolls eyes*

Blech! Yes, I've had to deal with a few less than stellar players in my day too. Thankfully, most characters are not entirely immortal and thus can pleasantly be removed as a last resort. Seldom does it come to that, of course.

I know, my RPG!Sophie got the crapped kicked out of her by RPG!Klaus. Luckily, she was a vampire else she would have been dead. And of course since I played Varney, I was able to make sure Sophie was healed.

I still did not like the attitude from the two other players though. Very immature. I've been RPing for about 10 years, I had never seen anything quite like it before. I might not be the best player, I have a hard time writing and speaking in styles not my own, but I try to remain mature about everything. It takes a lot to ruffle me!

Re: I've never RPG'ed.......

Not tickled by the idea of a lj RPG, eh?

P.S. I have to admit, they're pretty glorious. The photographer (not me, because I couldn't snap a decent photo to save my grandmother) did a marvelous job of capturing the medieval beauty of the country.

I am very interested in this...RPG.... Thank you for such the lovely invite, and this community is quite lovely as well.

But I fear that I must dissapoint melsmarsh.

For I wish to play myself. :)

Thank you. I wish I could take credit for the beautiful design, but alas, it was the work of our former mod.

And to think, you won't even have to create a new journal for the occaision.

Oh, and I do think that it is amusing that you added "Alexander lucard" as an interest to the community. Haha, good touch. Notice how most of the hits that come up are players/characters from my former RPG? Hehe.

I'm going to go start creating a Mina journal if that is okay with you. :)

Yes, I thought I might as well tap into other horror-related fandoms for potential victims..err, players. That's just how devious I am.

Feel free!

Just as an FYI, be very careful if tcregan (xanderlucard's player) or soldurios (klaus_helsing's player) take an interest in the rpg. To say they are power players would be an understatement.

Mina has applied for your community. I'll do more with her journal next week when I have time.

Thank you for the warning! Powergaming has never been something I've tolerated. Particularly when the PCs in this game will be the highly bred, genteel mortals of the novel that have next to no experience with combat. Save Mr. Morris, of course.

You are quite welcome! I would not like to see those two destroy another RPG. *sigh* Some people really show their age.

Save Mr. Morris, of course.

Of course! :)

As you like. :)

I don't think I could realistically handle two slightly nutty muses. One (Klaus) is bad enough. :)

*grin* I'm not that brilliant, really it was also in part my brother and his friends' idea... but that's so cool that you liked it!

I would love be involved in the RPG! I've done ALOT of online RPGing, a fair amount of it Dracula and vampires, but no one lj RPGing. I can play anyone...but not Van Helsing.
